Hi Chaps
Here is a genuine R.M.A badge which has been brooched, you can just make out the stump of the lug in the ball. This badge was worn on the Brodrick cap 1902-21. Cheers Malc

Did the RM really wear the "Broderick" for another 16 years after the Army binned it?

Brodrick Cap
This is a picture of Royal Marines wearing a mixture of Brodrick and Peak Caps they are wearing RM shoulder titles and Kings Crown capbadges. This picture was taken after the amalgamation of the RMLI and RMA in 1923. John Last edited by stonehouse boy; 18-05-16 at 10:58 AM. |

Hi Steve,
Officers of the RMA wore at times two types of capbadges with OSD a two part badge being a Globe and Laurel with a cross cannons above in Bronze, also a fused grenade a bit like their collars without the scroll. I have pictures of these badges in books but I don't have them in my collection. The two part badge is the one seen most. John |

Does anyone know if the RMA flaming grenade has ever been reproduced?
The example in my collection does have solder points like the one that started this thread. What is interesting from examining the the example in my collection is that there is a longer lug attached to the centre of the grenade to meet the lug attached to the flames. I always assumed this badges was worn on a trench cap by the RMA who operated the howitzers on the western front. Is this a hard to find badge? |

Hi This is a Gunner of the Royal Marines Artillery he is wearing a fused grenade with a plain ball. A Senior NCO would wear the same badge but in gilt, when you say has this badge been reproduced. Nearly all Royal Marines head-dress badges have been copied including this one it is also the most common RMA capbadge found. It was worn from 1902 to 1922 and on various head-dress. John |

Very little between the lengths of the lugs and the flames one still sticks out more than the other. Think its good but I have not looked at any others. Paul.
