Was the doublet you mention actually made in the 1920's or was simply worn in that decade, if the former, I would be quite surprised if the buttons were original to it.

The doublet in question. It was privately tailored in the post ww1 era (assuming 1920s) with regimental buttons ( as is common on band uniforms ) and the collars appear to have been to only ones ever used on it. The doublet is to a Corporal bugler that has loops sewn for a long length of five or six medals, and these collar badges could well be ones from his earlier years of service.
I suppose it depended on how picky the senior NCOs were.

Okay, it's nice to see it, to be quite honest, I think without actually knowing the who, what, where and when and so forth, it will remain exactly what it is.
