WW2 Southern Rhodesia Commando Cobra Qualification Badge
Does anyone know how many original ww2 Southern Rhodesia Commando Cobra qualification badges are known to exist?
Are there any known photographs showing this badge being worn? Last edited by 13 Pdr; 08-09-22 at 11:11 PM. |

In answer to your questions. I have been collecting Rhodesian insignia since 1967. In all that time I have had two such badges in my possession, and still have one of them. I also have a photo of the man, to whom it was originally issued and I got it directly from him via a fellow collector many years ago. He began service in the Southern Rhodesia Artillery, then went on to serve with the Rhodesian Air Askari Corps and LRDG and after the end of the 2nd World War went on to serve with the RAR. I have all his cap badges. I know of only two or three such badges in other collections. I have not been able to find a list of badge numbers awarded and would also love to see one! Some images attached for interest.

I also have one of their badges, in fact two, as it came with the little silver lapel badge too. I’ll try and dig them out and post a photo or two.
I bought them off Steve Bosley in a market under the station at Charing Cross in London, many, many years ago. I think I had to put a deposit down and pay him in stages. Ian H |

Thanks Madziro for the information and for posting the photo showing the actual badge being worn.

I look forward to seeing photos of your badges Ian.
I understand the lapel badges were also numbered. Do your two badges carry the same number? |

Photos of front and back of my two badges.
The lapel has 447 on the back. Looking very closely it appears it was possibly originally stamped as 117 and then the front of the 4s engraved onto it. Ian H |
