Default North Irish Brigade caubeen

Good morning,

I need your advice about his caubeen of the NI Brigade. Cap badge in staybrite
Sorry but no better pictures I know the brigade disappeared in 1968. Do you think the caubeen could be from this period ?

A caubeen of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers who wore the Brigade cap badge at one time but I can't say if the caubeen dates to the Brigade period - no markings inside?

I think the Caubeen should be dark blue for the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in the North Irish Brigade period. See photo https://www.royal-irish.com/stories/the-caubeen

From formation of the Royal Irish Rangers on 1 July 1968 the dark green caubeen was adopted for all three battalions. However, In September/October, 1969 I recall seeing both blue and green caubeens being worn in Catterick. This was after the ‘merging’ of the first and third battalions, so perhaps a small demonstration of regimental pride?

Thank you for your useful advice. No marking to date it. Did all the brigade wear the blue caubeen ?

The dimensions of the red triangle look incorrect. I have a Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers dark blue caubeen. The red triangle is approximately 105mm x 77mm. Possibly a made up caubeen.

Is the caubeen shown not a dark blue one?

Your comment re. the green / blue caubeens being worn by the Royal Irish Rangers in 1969 is interesting, I have a dark blue one without a badge backing patch, 1950's dated I think it is, with a Royal Irish Rangers badge and green hackle - I'd wondered whether it could be a makeshift "transitional" temporarily worn in lieu of the green caubeen, perhaps it is.

Leigh,
It looks Rifle Green on my screen, but then back in the day the TV Snooker commentator used to say “for those watching in black and white, the blue ball is behind the pink”.

I may very well be wrong, just the way it appears on my screen.

The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and The Royal Irish Fusiliers both wore the "Bonnet Blue" CF2250-65
The Royal Ulster Rifles wore the "Bonnet Green CF2210-25"
