Default City of Ottawa Advance Police Force Helmet Plate

Hi Guys

I wonder if you could take a look at this Helmet Plate for The City of Ottawa Advance Police Force helmet plate. Badge is brass two piece design with lugs. Let me know what you think.

Nice badge. Nothing wrong with it. By the style and method of manufacture, almost certainly made in England.

Isn't that a J.R.GAUNT LONDON maker mark over the reverse central nut?
King's crown dates it to circa 1902-1952.

Yes, you are right. The centre Coat of Arms was also worn lugged as a cap badge.

Wow you guys have good eyes - never noticed the maker mark above the nut on the reverse.

It is J.R. GAUNT MONTREAL

I suppose,for the sake of accuracy,we should note that the title is,or was, "The City of Ottawa Police ".

'Advance ' has been transposed from the scroll on the Coat of Arms.
