Default Irish Pipers Cloak Brooch for ID

THIS ITEM WILL BE FOR SALE, SO PLEASE REFRAIN FROM REPLYING IF THIS MAY LATER CAUSE OFFENCE.

Can anyone please confirm which Irish Regiment's Pipers wore this Gm Cloak Pin?

90 x 65 mm.

I am aware that the Royal Irish currently wear a silvered version.

Thank in advance

Andy

Default Irish kilt pin

Hello Andy

Subject to size, the only one I can say with confidence is The Ulster Defence Regiment.

Best wishes

Gordon

Amendment: Ignore title; I meant Plaid brooch!

Default Irish Kilt Pin

Dear Andy.

This Plaid Brooch was at one time worn by the Pipe band of 40th (Ulster) Signal Regiment post 1967. I show a version on my little web site www.signalsbadges.co.uk under the UK section.

Also used by the Royal Ulster Regiment.

Hope the attached photos of of some help.

Best wishes

Default UDR Brooch

The UDR brooch had a gilt finish, off the top of my head think it was pin backed. The Royal Irish brooches have four lugs, and are silver in colour. Could be an unfinished UDR brooch ?

Tim,
many thanks, but I think this Gm version predates that, probably UDR as already indicated above.

Many thanks to all contributors

Andy
