Default Cameron badge backing...

Gentlemen,

This badge was obtained with the tattered backing still intact - I assume it was a square at one time. The detail on the badge is great, btw...

Hello Mark,
As a rule the tartan backing to the Jocks badges were cut into 3" squares and the edges fraid a little & cut a certain way to have lines and colours running the correct way for there own Regt's. In the case of your backing which for the Cameron Highlanders is the tartan,Cameron of Erracht which looks very similar to the one with your badge but should have crossed yellow lines running East west ,North South which I can't make out on yours, so maybe it's the right tartan but cut the wrong way and cut to shape of badge as apossed to the 3" square I mentioned. The badge looks ok though as far as I can make out.

Gerard
