Unknown titles
This extract from Metropolitan Police orders identifies the HQCD badge;
Metropolitan Police Order 18/3/40 All Special Constabulary Sgts and Constables on full-time service basis are to be supplied with clothing on the same scale as War Reserve Constables. Cap and badge 1 - Serge jackets 1 - Trousers 2 - Greatcoats 1 Gloves, Wool, prs 1. A second serge jacket will be issued from 1/5/40 to all who have completed six months duty. Badges and numerals etcAll Sgts and Constables will wear numerals on serge jackets and greatcoats in addition to the divisional letter and SC badge. On the jackets now issued. The divisional letter and SC badge (or badges) on the right side of the collar of jacket and greatcoat and numerals on the left. In the case of new serge jackets, they will be worn as above but with the letters MP affixed by the contractors. [As noted above from meeting on 18th January, SC jackets did not up to this date have MP letters on shoulder.] In the case of the undermentioned divisions, the letters and SC badges will be worn in the following order: HQC [Headquarters, Central Division] – Letter A – HQCD with crown above HAC – Letter G – letters HAC – SC and crown BH1 – Divisional Letter – BH1 – SC and crown. BH2 – Divisional letter – BH2 – Crown [my original note definitely says only Crown] GPO – Letter G with SC and Crown Transport – Divisional Letter – Letters AA – SC and crown. Postwarden |
