Default RAAF wings - opinion?

Hi all,

Picked up these wings from antique shop in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

What you guys think, can they be an original wings or reproductions?

Thanks,

Timo

Hi Phaethon,

This is one of a few standard pattern wings made for the RAAF in WW2 (you also encounter a post war variant of this same pattern with a 'Queens Crown').

It is Australian made & although the crown looks a bit out of alignment & therefore the wing looks a bit odd, it is characteristic of this quirky pattern.
I have a few examples still attached to uniforms & others with press studs, metal backing plates & red stitching added to the crown also.

Best regards,
David

Thanks for confirming. At the crown, some horizontal stitches are loose, probably reason of wanky look. Anyhow, got it vert cheap so pleased with that.
