1. Electrical and Mechanical Enigneering Branch - Post Unification.
2. Black watch (Definitely NOT Lanark and Renfrew Scottish, the only other possibility)
4. General Officers
5. Royal Canadian ARMY Medical Corps

Cliff has the id's right on. The second is The Black Watch, Royal Highland Regiment of Canada. The fourth badge is the combat cap badge for General Officers. (above the rank of Brigadier General, including Major General, Lt General and General). Sean, all of these appear to be the early issue badges. Is the backing a sort of loose cheese cloth type material?
They aren't on the government web site as they are obsolete patterns. The RCEME is now EME, RCDC is the Dental Services, and RCAMC is the Medical Services.
Phil and me must have posted at the same time...

Sean, what is the backing on the Black Watch combat cap badge? In the 1960's the Black Watch were a regiment of the regular Canadian army. When combat dress was issued, the premanent army regiments and corps were issued combat insignia. That insignia can be differentiated from the later issues by the backing. The early issues were the loose cheese cloth cotton thread backing. Circa 1992, DND approved a system acquisition of combat cap badges for the entire land element units and there was also an air element combat cap badge. These are different pattern than earlier issues and have the plastic type backing.
A note about combat cap badges. These have been on issue, either by official procurement or by private purchase, since the late 1960's. There are many different patterns of combat cap badges, including some very scarce regimentally acquired examples.

hi Bill,

the black watch boonie badge does indeed have the mesh backing, this is a tighter weave mesh than what occurs on other examples that i have though.

anyways, i have a few more with question marks for them which i shall try to post soon for positive idents...

cheers, sean

Unknownsoldier is correct. This is the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps.
You ask if these have been done in cadpat. Have any cap badges been done in cadpat? I don't collect these so I am unaware. One thing is certain, no cadpat badges have been made for units/corps which no longer exist, i.e., Canadian Guards, the various Corps such as Pay, Dental, Service and others.

when i asked if "these" were done in cadpat, i meant boonie badges in general... have never seen any and wondered. it would seem to make sense that they would, unless they havent got around to it yet, although from most pictures i see of uniformed soldiers they usually wear the modern bimetal badges instead of cloth insignia on black berets, and helmets in the field. havent seen that comes to mind any headgear in news stories etc that might suit a cadpat capbadge...
