Default Worcestershire Rifles Pouch Badge

Just picked this badge up at the post office. I believe it's a pouch badge but these types are few and far between in my area. Any info or comments as to if I'm correct or the originality/rarity of this badge would be appreciated.. Jim

That's a cracker Jim,

Sadly I swapped my Roger Bennett for a G.F. McWilliam and I can not remember the more exotic badges now !!

Perhaps a message/PM to David Wright will put you on the right track ??

Hope this helps ??

Dave.

Awesome badge Can you see any evidence of screw posts, that usually indicated a pouch badge.

Cheers
Jim

I don't know for certain but I think it may have been two fairly long lugs, just don't quote me, my memory has long since gone lol

Dave.

Not to sure about screw posts... there seems to be some kind of residual metal bar? left hand side under the crown... bottom right there might have been a lug removed and ground down.... but I'm not 100% certain... it shows on the reverse picture...

Hi Jim,

The mark bottom right would be right for a three lugged model ( on reflection, it probably was ) but I would expect that if that was the case, the top lug would be more central but as so many people say, we cannot go on what it should be.

It's still a cracking badge though ???

Dave.

PS, I have just had a look at Clive Dicken's album ( Rolica ), he shows two ot these and describes them as Officers' Pouch Badges, circa 1885, sadly, no info on the rear ??

Hello again Jim,

I'm afraid that from the photo it's hard to tell ! I cannot see any signs of it in the crown or the jewel band, where I would expect it to be, I would prefer to use the naked eye and a loupe ??

If the mark we can see is the remains of a lug which seems likely, I would also expect two more marks on a triangular pattern, if you follow, for the remains of the other two but that's hard to see as well.

I think that you need to wait for someone with a better screen and facilities for ' blowing ' your photo up, to give a more positive answer ?? sorry I can't be more help....

Dave.

Bennett is of no assistance, he does not mention any fixings.

Hi Peter,

I only mentioned Roger Bennett in the context of identifying the badge, at that time the fittings were not mentioned ?

Dave.
