Hi,

It looks like 'BUTTONS' to me, the B is just a bit mangled.

Cheers

Phil

I'm sorry Chris, I can't help you on that one.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to take so long in getting back - time differences etc.

re: this mark taken from forthcoming book:

Buttons Limited

Only one stamped slider and one die forged body mark are known to have been used by this company.

Buttons Limited markings stamped to the slider

1.1: BUTTON'S LTD

Size: 10.00 x 1.25 mm
Comments: Usage dates for this mark are unknown, although this mark is found on brigade era anodised aluminium cap badges. The character ‘B’ in “BUTTON’S” may be found well formed or damaged, as shown in the example below, with a pronounced lack of detail to the top and bottom of the character ‘B’. Those marks with a poorly formed ‘B’ are deemed to have been created later possibly due to damage to the marking punch. Although the company name is found written on company letter paper without an apostrophe one seems to have been added to this mark between the letters ‘N’ and ‘S’.

Hope this is of interest...

Regards

Chris
