Dark Blue FSC with Red Piping to Curtain - Auxilliary Fire Service?
Does anyone know which unit / organisation wore this Field Service Cap please?
It has brass King's Crown General Service Buttons, it has a small slit indicating that it's had a slidered badge fitted. I purchased it as an "unknown", it may be a variation of the AFS FSC, or GPO? I can't think of a military unit who may have worn it. Last edited by leigh kitchen; 17-11-23 at 05:16 PM. Reason: Last image added. |

Leigh,
The AFS/NFS side cap had a red front peak and no piping so you can eliminate that possibility. best wishes

Yes, just wondered if there could be a variation in peak and piping colours as occurs with some Army FSCs, but the absence red peak and addition of red Piping to the curtain seems a bit of a stretch.

Is it not the Royal Army Ordnance Corps?
Edit: ignore me, I forgot they have yellow and red piping.

I must admit it hadn't occurred to me that it could be pre WWII.
No manufacturer's marks on the buttons. The cap came with these two badges: |

The soldiers version just had red, so this could be an early RAOC FSC but i have no idea why it does not have corps buttons. Steve |

Thanks. GS buttons seem to crop up on CFSC, perhaps as the caps are private purchase the buttons are convenient in terms of economy and supply, general purpose regardless of regiment or corps?
