Are the lugs the rame as znu find ona cap badge ,paddy ? I had a brainwave,I had a 9th / 12th badge with lugs but the lugs were long and thick. I suspect that it was a pouch type badge.

The lugs are exactly the same as you would expect on a cap badge Paddy |

Just had a wild idea, how about a regimental police brazzard badge ? Firstly,I don't kmw if staff at the depot wore rac badges or their own.secnndly if the rp staff wore brazzards.

The question is do they exist with a slider? I think that the Special Reconnaissance Squadron RAC (1962 - 1965) wore the RAC collar badge with a red backing in the dark blue beret and its "successor" the Parachute Squadron RAC (1965-1976) also wore the RAC collar badge in the maroon beret. Tim

Yes!! I just realised that I sold a DOWLER BIRMINGHAM marked slider version a few weeks ago! As a largish but delicate badge perhaps the lugged version was more robust in service than the slidered one? Any ex RAC Junior Leaders amongst the BMBF Membership? Tim

Would a recruit to the 15/19 th have had a red backing to his rac badge. Its the only post 58 cavalry regt that wore a red badge backing.

B friend of mine suggested that the red backing may have been worn by the junior leaders rac.

i think that the lugged badge is probably from a belt plate.

Looking at paddys image, the lugs look like cap/beret badge lugs rather than the belt plate type lug7.

I'm both ex JLR RAC 72-74, my cap badge (RAC) had a slider, I've still got one. Also ex 15/19H, no backing behind RAC Badge just 15/19h one.
