Default WW2 RMD patch, Fake?

Hi Guy's,

I have a question to ask about the 'Royal Marine Division' patch? I have a WW2 RN/RM money belt which has a Combined Operations patch and Royal Marine Division patch sawn on. A totally genuine item. Looking at the RMD patch (Yellow trident on red shield) the stitching is going from side to side horizontally. All the (mint) but being sold as genuine RMD patches (that I can find) have the stitching running diagonally?? Were there two variations or are the diagonally stitched patches 'Fake'??

Regards
Irv

Irv,
I don't know, but this example which was donated with several other excellent formation signs in 1986 has excellent provenance. I have other examples which have a somewhat cruder trident. Mike

Cheers Mike

I would like to see one on an original uniform with provenance. All the diagonal stitch patches that I have seen have never been attached to a uniform

Regards

Also note the leadout of the gold/yellow thread at the bottom of the trident, very different on the diagonal stitched patched.

Thanks Mike.

I'm sure there must be another member who has one on a uniform in their collection, come on RM collectors
Just need a good close up to see the stitching.

Do to have one of these patches Mike?

Default Seated Officer

Mike, in the picture of the seated officer what is below the strident? Is it a B division patch? I f it is I thought they were sewn onto a khaki rectangle then onto the uniform.
It also looks a bit big for a division patch
