Default Manchester Regiment Fire Surround

Gents..

Although not a badge by a long stretch i thought i would share possibly the greatest militaria item i am ever likely to own. It is a victorian mahogany fire surround from the 8th Ardwick Battalion Manchester Regiment barracks at Ardwick Green, Manchester. Although originally, I am sure this came from the 5th Volunteer/7th Territorial Battalion Barracks at Burlington Street, Manchester. It really is magnificent and I must pass on special thanks to my good friend Brian Finch for his assistance in getting it in my loft.

A great item to have, lovely.
Presumably the "EGYPT" tablet wouldn't have applied to the 5th VB but would've to the 7th TF Battalion?

Very nice, well done.

Absolutely fantastic workmanship! Something that we would never see over here in the US.
Madly jealous of you. How I would love to have something like that.
