Aircraft fabric Auction
Gentlemen, I've been had. In my fifteen years of collecting I had never been the victim of a scam until I bought a fake WW1 German Airplane cut out on ebay from 9999destination AKA, David Empson of Ipswich. His offer of a full refund "if not delighted" was worthless. The item was returned followed by a series of bizarre excuses from Brexit to the Mexican Wall amongst others as the reasons for not returning my funds. Ebay and Paypal were utterly useless and sided with this fraudulent seller. He also sold a fake WW1 German helmet plate to another buyer and again never returned funds. I'm furious. I'm hoping to meet Mr. Empson and have a civil conversation with him one day. Unfortunately I'm across the pond in Canada.

Presumably a piece of fabric, perhaps with painted insignia from fuselage, wing, tail of a German air force aircraft.
Here's the closest thing I have to a fake German cut out, from Duxford Air Show. I really need another two of the plywood things so I can stick em on the garage wall like Hilda Ogden's flying ducks. Last edited by leigh kitchen; 20-03-19 at 09:46 AM. Reason: Pointless image added. |

It's probably a price of doped linen fabric that covered wooden aeroplanes, may have had something like the German cross on it, cut from crashed aircraft for souvenirs.

Would have been better to move it to the fakes & forgeries section, not Canadian.

Aircraft fabric Iron Cross
cut4.jpg
Cut out.jpg cut1.jpg cut3.jpg The pattern was a sloppy repaint at some point and spilled over to the reversed side. Fabric was heavy and not consistent with a period piece. The pattern is suspect as well. |
