Primrose Cemetery
With it being Rememberence Day, I decided to visit Primrose Cemetery in particular to look for the ILH monument which I thought was there.
I didnt find the ILH monument but there was a lot of Memorial stones to ABW casualties. ABW monuments 008.jpgABW monuments 009.jpg Goose bump stuff..... Iain

Glad to see the cemetry is well kept, whilst walking around the main ABW one in Bloemfontein had me looking over my shoulder every few seconds! By the way my Great Grandfather is buried at Primrose Cemetry, must go there next time I'm up in JHB. Thanks for posting. Brian |

Hi Brian,
it is very well kept and nice to see that. There is a large squatter camp fairly close by so I was a bit worried. Was your Great Grandfather in the ABW? The Bloem cemetery would be full of Roberts' typhoid victims of course Iain

Hi Iain
My family have a plot there, I have a picture of the grave at home. It appears that there are more than one person interned in the plot? He was a German settler (Schultz) who arrived with the German Legion, I believe after the Crimea War where they took part on the side of the British. Brian |
