Default Middlessex Yeomanry

Hi Forum
I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
It is possible to accurately date a Middlesex Yeomanry
cap badge?
The one I have been looking at is white metal with a what looks like a brass
slider.
It is stamped rather than solid.

It has GVIR on the centre, surrounded by an eight pointed star
So presumably it must be of the period of George VI reign of 1936 to 1952.
There are no makers marks that I can see on the reverse.
I have seen on the internet similar badges with two round fixings on the reverse.
I have a feeling that it won't possible to date but I would be grateful of any help.
many Thanks
David

The GVI badge can only date after 1937 as it is for George the Sixth. The same badge remained in use into the 1950s. The Queen's Crown badge may not have been issued until several years after 1952.

If it’s genuine then it will date as Alan says. However, there are a lot of repros out there of this badge sadly which are far more modern.

Hello David and welcome to this great forum plenty of good people on here to help us all, as already said the badge would date GV1 reign and beyond, you’d probably stand more chance with a sliderd one being guniune as a cap badge but as said this badge has been faked for a long time unfortunately, have you any pictures ? is it a badge your looking to buy ?

Hi Gerard
Thanks for replying.
It's not my badge but belongs to a friend who found it amongst some family things. He is not sure who it belonged to (father or grandfather or an uncle perhaps) hence trying to located an accurate date for the badge.
So we can try to work out who it might have been.
I took a photo on my phone which didn't come out very well, taken in haste.
I have tried to upload here, and bingo looks like I've cracked it
Thanks for taking to time to read my posts
Thanks
David

Hi David
You’ve done better than me in your short time on here uploading pictures, mine always come out sideways or upside down!! Your badge from the front looks ok and what I can see the slider looks a good shape ( have you a picture of the back?) I stand to be corrected but looks promising as a guniune badge and I’d say earlier than later in date ( again stand to be corrected) thanks for posting, have a good evening.

Hi Gerard
Thanks for replying.
I didn't think to take the back, but when I next see my friend I will take one.
I presume from your post that the type of slider and the back all help to date the badge.
thanks again.
David

Hi Gerard

My friend has sent me a photo of the back of the Middlesex Yeomanry Cap badge.
Don't know if it helps.
It's a little out of focus!.
