Hi Guys

Found this awhile back but cannot remember where sadly, thought it might be of interest here. Those little "On Service" badges with a bit of red cloth hanging below still pop up from time to time, these days the cloth is sometimes missing. When I first saw one of these years ago I thought someone had just created his own little badge. However these were official and made like that for issue. This is confirmed with this WW2 recruiting poster. Sorry for our non SA collectors, it is in Afrikaans, but basically says "this is the dress of the day for non key persons"

Key civilian personal would have worn the On Service badge.
