Mystery Indian Badge

Any thoughts on this badge ? It measures some 55mm high - it's been suggested that it might be something to do with the Prince of Wales's visit to India in 1921 - worn by his personal staff ? Anyone seen it before? Tim

Almost looks like horse furniture. It is not the PoWs visit to India badge. That badge is show on QMS Militaria website..can't post the link but you can see it there still if you search.

Thanks Mike - that's really useful. I noted that he had a number of items from the visit and they were all slightly different but very well made. The mystery badge is a bit crude by comparison. Tim

Tim, the badge might well be a mess servant/khitmatgars badge on the local staff that were employed in India during the visit.. those badges are usually large, I've noticed. This does have an 'Indian' look about it, but difficult to say for certain..

I was thinking this same thing. Have never seen this badge before.

I believe that there the QMS badges relate to the POW visit in 1921 ( EVIII ) - there was an earlier visit to India by the then POW ( EVII ) - and the badge may relate to that period ?
