Default Australasian badge on an Aussie WWII sidecap

Bought for a rather reasonable sum a lovely Australian sidecap dated 1943, British General Service plastic buttons with a "Australasian" capbadge. As long as I remember the badge (I'm not home at the moment) has some kind of maker's markings on the obverse, but for what I know the "Australasian" battalion should be a WWI formation ... I guess this kind of cap badges are pretty rare and this looks quite new and shiny... Therefore I'm I to suppose this is a restrike of a WWI capbadge mistakenly added to a WWII sidecap? Your opinions?

Hi,

That badge is the King's Colonial's Australasian Squadron hat badge worn pre WW1. It's an English unit.

Unfotunately, this is also one badge which has been restruck alot over the years and it's near impossible at times to pick the restrike from the original. This is one badge I stay away from as most copies you see are restrikes.

It would nonetheless be interesting to see the makers mark.

I don't recall ever seeing one of these badges with a maker's mark.
