Default HELP APPRECIATED WITH IDENTIFICATION

Could any Forum member shed some light on the illustrated badge. The shield is stamped out with the letters. It measures 50mm x 50mm. The numbers have been applied separately. My own feeling is that it might be connected to the Special Constabulary. I have seen something similar that contained a place name and County Constabulary. But it could be County Council? Hopefully someone has seen it before!

Kind regards, Malcolm.

I have seen a similar item, many years ago. I recall it being described as "Surrey County Council". I can confirm that it is not a police or Special Constabulary badge.

Hello Dave.

Many thanks for the info. My thoughts on police came from a badge I had seen. A circular item with S.C.C. in the centre surrounded by Special Constabulary. So S.C.C. would seem to indicate " Surrey County Council" as you say. I wonder who would have worn it as it is very well made and with a low number. So somebody who exercised some authority or handled funds etc? Interested to hear any other thoughts on the subject.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Malcolm,

I've had a flash of renewed memory in respect of your badge. Its not Surrey related, but rather its thought to be Sutton Coldfield. A friend of mine (who lives in the town) has one. He's on holiday at the moment so I can't ask him what number is on his. I'll do so as soon as I'm able. There is a very large park there and its thought that their staff in the park wore the badge on their caps. The current authority who manage the park have no knowledge of the badge. However, my friend has located a photograph of a uniformed official wearing a cap speaking to a car driver at one of the entrance gates. Its a general park scene and the photo only shows the car etc in the distance. Hence, you can't see any detail of the uniform/badge etc.

I hope this is helpful.

Dave.
