Default Ulster S & DR Club

Hi all

Here is the Ulster badge I spoke of. Can anyone add more to this?

Cheers

Tommy Catkins (with apologies to Louis Wain)

PS Sorry about the quality of the picture!

Hi all,

What period we are talking here in respect of the Wilkinson sword numbered 11240?

Thanks

Default Masonic etching?

Hi there,

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but wanted to see if anyone can help me date my Royal Navy Officer Sword. It has no serial numbers strangely and the only thing I really have to go by the etching (see attached).

Much obliged for any help!

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew, better images of the hilt and blade would help, it looks like your sword is a marriage of an 1895/7 Infantry Officers Sword, grip and blade, with an RN lion’s head back piece, the grip looks awkward next to the lions chin, if you see what I mean. Best, Ben.

Hi Ben,

How unusual? No wonder I haven't been able to ID it!

Its interesting you mention the infantry officer sword because I measured the blade and it fits this replacement scabbard, which I purchased (and it fits perfectly). (https://www.theknightshop.com/scabbard-steel-158a).

I've included some more pictures here.

All the best,
Andrew

Yes it’s a composite, a Wilkinson Infantry Officers blade of the post 1892 type dumb bell blade, with a (sort of) 1895 hilt, which lacks the normal pierced scroll work and royal cypher, it’s also lacking the slot for a sword knot. The pommel nut has been replaced also. The only ‘Naval’ parts appear to be the brass back piece and ferrule.

Ben,

Sincere thanks! How odd though.
