I hope you dont mind me giving my opinion on your title collection as it seems to me, I may be rearranging the items, so if OK..... 1. Top Lt. hand badge is early WWII SAMC single title as used by CF units 2. V over CMC is Volunteer Cape Medical corps 1903 - 1912/13 though I have seen some medical volunteer badges been worn during WWI 3. CMC in white metal is not medical but Transvaal Cycle and Motor Corps 4. Brass CMC is not the regular pattern worn by the regular Cape Medical Corps. It may be a brass V over CMC with the V been cut off OR it may be a canadian title. 5. MSC stands for Medical Staff Corps and is a british title pre 1898. This may have been worn in SA but not by any South African unit. Steven |

The ENGRS title without seeing the reverse appears to be a pre/early WWI australian Engineers title, but I could be mistaken on this. And the title above is the early WWII SAEC single title, much like the SAMC, SATC, SAAF, etc. Steven |

Hi Steven,
Please do, this is the only way to confirm these sometime difficult badges and why we are posting here. Regards, Will |

First off I have to say I am very envious of the SAMC PF dress collars you have as I have been trying to add a pair of these to my collection for ages. Had a chance a few years ago, but let it go as was not aware that it was South African. When I did find out, the dealer had already passed them on. These were worn on the blue dress tunic from c.1923 through late 1930's. They fit very nicely into your SAMR collection as the SAMR Medical Section formed the basis of the SAMC PF. Now for the break-up .... The geneva cross on white (large one to right and small one below) are WWII and post WWII South African red cross badges. The large one was worn on both upper sleeves by SARC Ambulance Detachment men and the smaller one was worn by SARC VAD nurses on the front of the white veil. The other geneva cross you have with the yellow border is correct pattern for SAMR medical staff and was also worn by SAMC during WWI. Steven |
