10th Gurkha Rifles but why the very long loops?
A white-metal 10th Gurkha Rifles badge that came on a tartan swatch. It has extremely long fixing loops as seen in the second photo. I would be grateful for any suggestions on what it would have been worn on.

That sounds like a very good guess to me.

From what I've read and examples I've come across,Jerry is right.
This type of badge with the non void bell is the type shown in K and K . Also the anodised example with lugs is described as a "Slouch Hat" badge by the IWM. The lugged anodised example is a pretty scarce item so it couldn't have lasted long. |

Thanks all for the suggestion and given that direction I do have to agree. The material of the hat crown coupled with the folded brim would need long loops on the badge to go through both. I just had visions of them digging into the wearers skull and that threw me.
Great stuff as always Mark |

The current (and has been for a long time) "Hats, Felt, Gurkha" does not have any side folded up when worn or stored. As far as I know it is not referred to as a 'Slouch Hat'.
