Wings - but not as you know them
I bought a large bundle of cloth pieces off of evilbay recently just to get one RM badge.
Now looking to clear the rest out and will probably stick them back on where they come from as I have no idea of values (not a lot for most/all of them I think) and they can find their own value If members don't mind me asking, I would love to know what the items in the attached pictures are. Some have labels (in English) dating to 1950s/60s and describing them as wings. My only thought was perhaps worn on ceremonial uniforms around the shoulder area? If anyone can enlighten me it would be appreciated Ray |

They were/are worn on Bandsmen's tunics.

Quick
Thanks Alan - you were quicker than a quickfit fitter there.
Presumably the variations were different regimental bands. Am I right in them being on the shoulder? Ray |

Yes on the shoulder. Different regts had different patterns.

I seem to remember that they were unofficially known as Swallow's Nests.

Not the best picture but it gives the idea.
