Default Silvered Buffs Cap Badge

Any information welcome on this one please. Obviously it The Buffs (East Kent Regiment), and it’s a cap badge but…..
It appears to be plated )not marked with a P), on two lugs, nicely tarnished. Is it a Volunteer cap badge? 141 RAC cap badge (although if it was I would have expected it to be on a slider ?), an officers badge of some kind ? Or something else….

Will be offered for sale once positively identified

Thanks in advance

Paul

Alas, I cannot offer any useful information Paul, but would certainly like register my interest in acquiring it once available if that’s not too cheeky!

Cheers……John

Snap!

Not a genuine badge sadly. Likely one of badgeman’s early efforts before they were routinely stamped ‘silver’.

Luke

Whilst I respect your opinion, what makes you say that it is fake? It’s a good quality badge with signs of wear , if it’s a fake it’s a bloody good fake….

Chris

Yours is different to mine. Mine is die struck, yours looks more die cast …

Hi Chris,

Alas, the badge you have shown is the Birmingham Mint reproduction:

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ictureid=31362

The lack of neck spines joining to the wings is the most obvious feature of those.

Cheers……John

Ah, apologies, yes all seen. I wonder then from looking again at Chris’ badge what size it is and is it a collar badge. But with that we digress from the point of the OP.

Cheers……John

If it was Vols then it would be nickel with brass lugs. The bespoke 4th TF was BB rather than silver. The RAC were plated brass on sliders.

Thumbs down from me I am afraid.
