Look more like an Ear Boss (with the ornate leather backing). Does it have two slits in the backing or a raised steel bridle attachment? If so, could well be the 13th LD/Hussars, as less detail was cast on these smaller items of horse furniture, as compared to the Breastplate Badge or Bit Boss.

Steve, too big for an ear boss methinks, much more breastplate size, but no Crown on top or the usual garter strap device for British Cavalry. I can’t find the design on your badge for any 13th Regiment, so still looking. Ben

thought could be napoleonic period, but yet again pure guess work...thanks steve

Not sure this is British, attached bit boss and stirrup slides to the 13LD

Maybe German Hussars

I know it seems unlikely, but could the item be shown the wrong way up, the "XIII" being "IIIX" - "7"
