Bedfordshire Imperial Yeomanry?
I wonder if anyone can tell me if this is a Bedfordshire IY cap badge as per the Shropshire IY one in K&K. The letters are the same size 1.5cm high and it is 4cm long, or is it a shoulder title? It has Lambourne & Co Birmingham stamped on the back and is cast brass. Many thanks Denis

It looks to me as though it is a shoulder title, and this is the listing in Westlake’s book on shoulder titles.

BIY title
Also worn I believe by Berkshire Imperial Yeomanry.

I also think it’s a shoulder title. My personal belief is these Lambourne IY shoulder titles are actually WW1 vintage. I’ve seen numerous pictures of troopers in WW1 wearing IY titles.
Your example has quite crudely replaced loops sadly. |

Thank you for your replies Andy, Rob and Luke and interesting also used by Berks IY. Yes, the loops have been replaced and are not a matching pair - one has more splay at the foot and has striations down the length of the copper wire which I always take as a sign of being old due to the wire not being drawn as well as modern loops which must probably be made through diamond dies and are smooth. The other one looks modern. Just out of interest, does this affect the value and if so, by how much do you think? Regards Denis

Even in that condition you got a bargain in my opinion and it’s worth more than the listed price.

The BIY shoulder title clearly visible in this WW1 RPC.
