I would never had got to that. Was thinking along the lines of Antarctic Polar Station or Artic Polar Station

Yes, it is. I identified it from a Victorian manufacturers pattern book which shows a drawn version of the cap badge with description beneath it. Prior to seeing the pattern book I did not have a clue what it was or where it was from.

It is rather an obscure item. Did not realize it went as far back as the Victorian times.
