Hi Jerry,

Thanks for sharing the photo's. Yes at frist glance this looks like the standard commercial knives to come out of Sheffield from the 1960's onwards. War time knives generally did not have the makers mark on the cross-guard (although there are 'very' rare exceptions).

One of the easy ways to spot a WW2 Period Third Pattern F-S Knife is by the mould number on the grip, 1,2,3 or 4 (post war knives did not have this as the original moulds were destroyed). Check out this link to my site for examples of cast mould numbers:

The post war knife is interesting in that companies (including Wilkinson Sword) did indeed supply military contracts, which is an interesting topic in it's own right.
