Default German Eagle badge, fake or real

Hi
Picked up this badge this morning and have no idea if it's a genuine one or not. I would welcome any advice as this is way out of my normal collecting area.

Thanks

Rob

Hi rob cant tell you if its genuine or not but that pattern of eagle
was worn by ss units . who wore the eagle as a arm badge and
sometimes on headwear such as peaked caps or sidecaps
if genuine a lot of third reich collectors will pay good prices for ss items
but loads of repo ss items about
regards julian

The badge you have is the style of eagle worn by the SS, it could either be a cap or sleeve badge.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the info, the badge came from a car boot this morning from an older couple who were clearing a relatives house and the badge was in a box with just old items and they were not selling anything else military. It seems to have an age about it and is a bit tatty around the edges where it looks to have been removed from what ever it was attached too. I have posted some closer up images to see if that helps, but am guessing like most things you can't tell for sure unless you can handle it. As it's not something I have any knowledge of can I ask what sort of value would it be worth if genuine as if I end up swapping it I know not to under value the swap.

Cheers again.

Rob

Rob,
It certainly looks the part & as you say, has been cut from a piece of clothing as a souvenir.

For a more definite answer you could try posting your photos on the Wehrmacht Awards website under the SS forum.

Hi Dave
Thanks for the link, I have posted it on there to see what those guys think. Can I ask you what sort of value do you see it at as stated before I have no idea where to value it.

Cheers

Rob

Rob,
Take a look at this website!
Scroll down & you'll see one quoted at $390 as a bargain.
He's either a very expensive dealer or the eagles are bringing in a lot now.

Hi Dave
Wow I had no idea, I would have been pleased if you'd said £20 as it cost me £2, I shall defintaley have to investigate it's authenticity before I let it go.

Thanks again for taking time to post and for your info, it's very much appreciated.

Rob
