Amazing album btw! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Luke

It states the award was won in 1904, if the book was printed prior to that date some sort of premonition or time travel would have been needed.

Really must stop drunk typing. That’s what a day in the sun washed down by 9 peroni’s does. Fail!

As I pointed out earlier, Her Majesty was still around when these were being worn by members of those fine battalions of the NFF, they were all very soon to be obsolete and sadly, many of their original wearers gone forever, victims of dangerous over confidence.

Can anyone provide information and evidence as to when "coffin" shaped lugs were introduced on shoulder titles?

Many thanks in advance.

From Lindley, God forsaken, certainly much fought over and complete with the fragment of Foreign Service Khaki Drill shoulder strap, once again, obsolete around 1902.

Actually Ed 7 ascended to the throne in January 1901 (after mum died).
There is an interesting document at TNA about the change over from Victoria's crown to King's crown on insignia which i think is dated in ?mid 1902 - I'll try and find it amongst my junk.

Hi Julian, I did know that. Vicky died in January ‘01 if memory serves? Those dam drunk fingers of mine! Believe the resulting badge changes came in 1902ish. Happy to be corrected though .
All the best,
Luke
