Default Peterborough City Constabulary

Picked this lot up a few weeks ago from a policeman in the 60s. He collected the odd badge at the time lurking around the stores.

Nice to know what you think?

Cheers,
Tom

Thanks Destro, I’m pleased with the little lot, though Police is not my forte.

Is the Peterborough Borough Police one quite rare do you know? Been trying to find it with no luck.

I gave a "Mad Anglia" badged helmet away some months ago, the old type pressed felt, leather sweatband, plastic chinstrap variety.
I have the chromed Cambridgeshire Constabulary ERII and "pineapple" helmet plates and a small box full of collar numbers, buttons, collar badges that were used by various incarnations of Peterborough police through the past few decades. Nothing exciting, just basic bits of insignia, and a 1950's dated cape, 1990's era cap and policewoman's bowler style hat.
Although Mid Anglia Constabulary existed only 1964 -74, some Peterborough policemen were still wearing the M.A. helmet plates and old style helmets into the 2000's, the obsolete Cambridgeshire Constabulary plates also being worn by some despite being replaced by the pineapple plate around 1979 - 80.

For those who are unaware of this site, Alan Swain was the Peterborough (and other forces) police insignia and medals guru:
