Default Help identify uniform

Hello,

I have an old bunch of photographs from my great uncle and within them are two photographs from a ships deck, one of which shows a Chadburn Telegraph. Sadly there is no information on the back of the photos, so no date or place or clue who the people are. Best guess is 1920s.

I'd be grateful for any assistance in identifying the uniform of the man with cap. Despite searching the internet, I can't pin it down. I thought the badge would give it away but I've not been able to match it.

Thank you
John

Hi Jon,

Here is an enlarged close up of the cap. Thanks for your help.

Closest I can get is that the badge is similar to Liverpool tramways, so not much help I'm afraid.

Ah, seen now - is that a pennant in the centre?
I'd been thinking of a square flag prior to the improved close up - only now have I picked out a pennant.
But the star, if that's what it is looks white?
White Star had a crown above the wreath though?

He has the house flag of the Laird Line on his cap badge.

Well spotted!. The first photo, if not family suggests he is posing with some of the line's passengers?

Thank you all so much for your assistance. It is much appreciated.

My Great Grandmother had cousins in Glasgow (family was originally from Dublin), so my suspicion is that the chap in the Laird Line uniform is one of them. I'm going to see if I can work out his identity.

Thanks once again.

John
