SA Cape Corps
Found these today on FB...
Interesting as there are not many pictures of the WW2 Era Cape Corps bearing arms. They were mostly utilised as drivers, stretcher bearers, cooks etc The one picture interestingly shows the soldier wearing what appears to be the SA Service Corp badge, as opposed to their normal unit badge. Hi Brian,
Nice find. Picture in order of display: 1. Cape Corps Motor Transport driver - wearing the SASC badge of WWI vintage with bottom scroll removed. Was standard issue for MT drivers in WWII. 2. Cape Corps Artillery specialists - seen by bandoleer - probably taken on Robben Island wear they were based. 3. A mixed lot. Three European soldiers, one with a rifle. The others in background appear to be labourers. Regards Steven |
