Default Cloth badges

Someone on another forum posted this picture and is interested to know what the two cloth badges are. I am posting the picture on his behalf.

From my research I have found conflicting information: the shield badge appears to be for the GHQ Troops, 21 Army Group, according to a poster I have published by Gale & Polden. However, Brian Davis's book, British Army Cloth Insignia states that it is British Troops in France (n.d.), Howard Cole's Formation Badges of World War 2 states that it was 8th Division formed in Palestine in 1938 and disbanded in Egypt in 1940.

All comments are welcome.
Thanks,
David

IWM descrption :

Quote:
The design was basically that of 21st Army Group but without the crossed crusader swords. It was worn during the war by all ranks of 21st Army Group GHQ Troops, by Lines of Communication (LofC) formations and units not allotted to lower formations with their own badge. The badge was also worn after the end of hostilities by British Troops in France, notably the Rear Maintenance Area in Normandy and several Base depots, transit camps and other administrative headquarters

Green and red diamond with yellow/gold S is identified as "No 1 Spanish Company, Pioneer Corps" in this thread :
