I think your wrong.... and it's legit... there was an officers cap in bronze... I think the white metal o/r badge was passed ovre to the Cadets when they disbanded in 1965.... it will be interesting to view the other comments of the Forum to see if I'm right.... you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth the money but it is one of the harder 1953-73 badges to find... According to Thompson, it came in white metal, bronze and silver for officers.
All of the white metal ones I have seen (QC) have short north/south lugs. I therefore think that they were for the waist belt plate.
I think this badge is legit. Early queen's crown period.
Just my opinion.
And the seller is in Canada.

Looks fine to me, infact we have a silvered one on our website.

There are only a handful for the Post '53 badges that can be considered scarce, but the others are alluding me right now.....

If I'm not mistaken, the Regiment has been stood to, once again:

Yes, the Halifax Rifles are active again, and have been re-badged. The badge in question is not one for the activated regiment.
Phil, A clarification, re the white metal badge you mention was for the belt buckle. My example is E/W lugged, and it is proper that the armoured regiment cap badges be in white metal. The bronze finish badges were likely osd badges. That badge in the ebay auction may be an osd badge. The only thing that bothers me about that badge is the "flat" wire lugs. Not to say that makes it bad, but the large feet and flat wire lugs have been associated with repro badges in other situations.

Does anyone have a current issue Halifax Rifles hat badge yet?

I'd like to see what they look like.

I'll see if I still have the pictures on my computer when I get home and will post if they are there. If not, I'll scan one in at work Tues night.

I was just wondering.........how many requests to buy the new QC badge did the Halifax Rifles received from collectors (and dealers) ????
The same question could apply also about the "new" Cape Breton Highlanders badge.

It appears that some current CF badges are being supplied by Pennys of Thunder Bay. Poking thru his site I came across a qc Cape Breton Highlanders. Perhaps this is the maker of the Halifax Rifles badges?

The CBH badges were purchased by the Regimental Association until the supply system catches up with the name change and may have been produced by Penny. They are poor quality with the lugs breaking off very easily. The Halifax Rifles badges were supplied by the CF supply system and I am very sure that they are not produced by Penny. I'll check the maker mark on Tuesday.
