1 Can Army Tk Bde sign
From a book published in UK in 1943 - Maj Gen Worthington continues to wear the ram sign of 1 Can Army Tk Bde even though he is commanding a Division by this date.

Hi Mike, Nice image. Note the "Lamb 42" signature on the upper left of the portrait. The rank is somewhat ambiguous in the painting, but it appears to be the Maj-Gen sword baton device. Perhaps the portrait was done at the time he was promoted in 1942?

There are about 40 portraits - but not this one - on the IWM Collections website ranging from Tprs, 40 RTR to Generals. As you say Maj Gen Worthington's badges of rank are unclear, but he's obviously no longer a Brigadier. Perhaps he was sentimentally attached to the Ram (no Welsh pun intended!)

Hmmm. A lot of 1 CATB were attached to the ram...but again, not in the Welsh or Scottish way...
