Possibly having a senior moment but I think when having a look at items on E bay in the last few days I saw a helmet plate centre for a musicians blue cloth helmet of the Duke of Lancaster`s Regiment.
Having tried to find it again it appears to have disappeared, was it a figment of my imagination ? P.B.

Please find attached an image of the proposed layout for my display. I have opted not to include the Cheshire badge as ultimately they ended up in a different regiment.

I am unsure as to what time period your display is intended to cover, so my answer may not be relevant, but here is the Manchester Regiment information. All 6 of the VB's had their own badges. After 1908 when the VF became the TF only the 7th Bn. had its own different cap badge worn until 1921 when it amalgamated with the 6th Bn. In 1949 the regiment adopted a WM fleur de lys until 1964 when what was left wore an Anodised Aluminium one. I would definately include the WM one. This information relates to other ranks only. regards

Thanks Simon,
If I remember correctly the Manchester VB badges was the standard badge with a small disc #VB on between the scroll and Crest? I have a 7th Bn badge but I am putting this in a separate display as I am doing one that shows Bn/Regts that were absorbed into other regiments ie Royal Artillery/RLC etc. I have never seen a WM fleur de lys only brass which I have. Was the WM for when they were part of RAC? Cheers Tom |

Tom,
Yes, thats right for the VB's except the 4th VB (which became the 7th TF), they wore a WM floriated F de L. The WM F de Lys adopted by the regiment after WW2 is not related to any affiliation to the RAC, they remained an Infantry Bn. They are very common and you will pick one up on ebay. regards

It wore the Lancashire Brigade cap badge and was amalgamated with the Loyal North Lancs to form the QLR.

Thanks Leigh,
I have one of the Lancastrian Brigade badges which I can include, I'll just have to get another to go with the other brigade badges I have. Cheers Tom |

If life wasn't complicated enough, it was the badge they all wore from 1948-58. A precursor for the Duke of Lancs.
As you can see in my collection I have defined it as Lancashire (PWV) by using the shoulder title. Last edited by Restrikes-ok; 03-07-19 at 09:04 PM. Reason: had more thoughts to add |

The Lancastrian Brigade cap badge? 1958-ish - 1970-ish? Or are you refering to the earlier Training Brigade formation signs?

For charts of the regulars, illustrated with badges: The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.
At the top you can link to the charts of the four composing regiments. HTH.
