RN CDV's - Are these two photos the same man?

Ahoy RN mates!

I have just recently acquired these two Victorian Naval CDV's - now what I am wondering are they one & the same man?

The image on the left, he is a young Leading Seaman, no GCB;s;
the image on the right he is now a Petty Officer 1cl, with 2 GCB's, & somewhat older.

I think some features appear similar to both -- his eyes, mouth, ears, & shape of face similar, even the beard, altho fuller in later photo, similar,,, but his nose? I am not certain.....
so I am requesting opinions pls......

In this photo he is wearing hite tapes on his tunic, it was customary for sailors to wear white tapes on their wedding day --why? I cannot recall or just don't remember --- perhaps someone does???

I don't think it is the same chap.

Try lining up the top of his ears with his eyes.

No - different people.

I think they are different people, the first chap has his hair parted almost in the middle, the second over his left eye. By gee the eyes look the same though. Could pass for twins.
