See the following site re. MP brassards http://home.mweb.co.za/re/redcap/frames.htm
The writer notes the following: "It is believed that this brassard was worn by African members of the Union Defence Force during World War Two. The letters 'NEMP' are believed to mean Non-European Military Police. It must be remembered that although African personnel were utilised within the UDF, they were not considered to be soldiers but rather only auxiliary personnel. A machine-made version is known to exist." From the above statement I read that this is a possible item and at least a single version of the brassard is known of. So either you have a very rare item or someone has seen the MP site and is turning these out in his garage. Pretty simple item to produce. I hope this is not the case though. Steven |

These two items were found by an MP friend when they were moving from one office to another in their unit lines while I was still serving in the SA Army some years ago. They were donated to the collection!! these are not often seen at all. Apologies for the terrible photo of the arm band. They are both WW 2 era.
