British or Canadian medics?? Odd badge?
I'm going to flog a couple of old photo post cards here and I am trying to identify them. Clearly, the lads are medics but they appear to be other trades and ranks as well. One is a signaller, two are buglers, and I can't identify the cap badges. The cap badges seem to be the common denominator. I notice the Sergeants have three stars on their sleeves. I don't recognize this as Cdn. Lastly, one chap seems to have an odd badge on his right breast pocket flap. I'm not used to any tunic front badges other than ribbands.
One photo clearly shows they are at a hospital camp with red crosses on the white canvas tents. So, What unit? British? Buglers & Medics & something else? Stars on sleeves? Ugliest dog ever? Thanks for any help. |

All are RAMC as far as I can see. The "odd" badge is the Imperial Service badge indicating with the star badges that some or all are pre WW1 Territorials and photos may be at pre war annual camp.

British RAMC. One of them is wearing the Imperial Service badge on his tunic.

All those with the Red Cross arm patch are qualified stretcher bearers / orderlies and I guess the fact that none are wearing RC or 'S.B.' arm bands makes these pre-War photos. And all are wearing 5 button tunics, not the 7 button Canadian model, so not CAMC, though the badges are virtually identical at this 'range'. Besides, we only had about 50 of them pre-War, so not very likely to be Cdn.
