Hi Mike,
I think the cap badge that you are probably looking for is the: Shanghai Volunteer Corps Armoured Car Company (unless Tientsin have their own variation).

Hi, I searched for some images and one officer came up. without cap, and was wearing crossed MG collar badges.Unfortunately the photo of the A/C was the only one with the invite. Mike

I was surprised to find a note in my hand on the reverse saying that a similar badge sold in May 92 at Wallis and Wallis for £240. So the silver ashtray should be worth something.
