Paignton VTC Part.9 (Final Set)
These are the last few pages for my Gt-Grandfather Victor Emanuel Boucneau's Paignton VTC scrapbook but I will post some more related photos that will follow shortly.

Victor's Grave
There is a tale to finding Victor's grave. When we found Paignton Cemetery we realised that it is not split into two but was huge, so we tried to search methodically. Some how after getting frustrated, I walked straight to it & couldn't believe my luck. It was obviously meant to be & I started to tidy it up & I introduced myself to them both x

This has been a supurb thread, really interesting reading. And I live not too far from Paignton.
My Great Grandfather after a 21 year career in the 3rd Dragoon Guards became a permanent staff SSM in the Yorkshire Dragoons, in 1914 he got his commission into the Yorkshire Dragoons, and became Quartermaster, he went to France with them in 1915, he spent two months there and then returned to Yorkshire to set up the 3rd line unit 3/1 Yorkshire Dragoons, and was in charge of training the new recruits. In 1917 he became Adjutant of the Huddersfield VTC, or the 9th West Riding Volunteers as they were then, each Vol Bn having a Regular Army Adjutant, hence my interest in the thread. I've a photo of him with the Officers of the 9th WRV. He's on the far right in his Yorkshire Dragoons uniform. Cheers all for a great thread! Chris |

Yorkshire Dragoons
Hi Chris & thanks for your feedback, I'm so glad you found my postings of interest. I really like your photo of your Gt-grandfather, I find it really rewarding to find out history to an old photo. By making these available to others, it helps pass on the stories for future generations. Many thanks, Jim

I'm assuming that Victor's arm band was like this one I found online?

Paignton VTC Members
Paignton VTC Members (From what I've read they were one of the first units formed in the country).
47 in total are named in Victor's Paignton VTC service era scrapbook. The next challenge will be to try & put a face to the name! I've posted this on a local Facebook site & if anyone comes forward with any further info, I'll update you all. A list that now brings the group photo more to life, so they will not be forgotten & saluted for their part in defending our country.
