I think the correct name was Govenor's Body Guard Madras, which would then give GBGM.

I was thinking more about the Major General's office staff , he has/had an ADC and some were Captains but could there have been a Major ?
"The article was written by Captain Antony Wakeham of our 1st Battalion, at the time ADC to Major General the Brigade of Gurkhas ". .

He did not mean to say it shows a Major General, but it perhaps shows a major belonging to (the staff of) the Major General Brigade of Gurkhas.
