Today's find - BMI
Hi All
I picked up this Bethuen's Mounted Infantry badge today. Is this a shoulder title or Slouch Hat badge? I would guess a slouch hat badge by the length of the lugs, but that is just a guess. Thanks. Cheers, Alex |

This is an excellent slouch hat badge. Have attached the one in my collection for comparison purposes. As they were hand made there are many slight variations!
Tyldens book states that a cloth flash was also worn on the slouch hat - blue, red and khaki in a rectangle shape with the letters BMI, one on each. I have never seen photographic evidenace of this though. The BMI were raised in Durban on 16th October 1899 at a strength of 500 and fought on the Tugela Line during the Anglo Boer War 1899 - 1902. Hi Dudley
Thanks for the info, that's excellent. It's a great addition to my very small collection of ABW slouch hat badges. Cheers, Alex |

Very nice find Alex, well done. I agree with your assumption that it is a slouch hat badge. Regards Andrew
