Mersey Tunnels Police cap badge. Worn 1952/3 to 1971.

Was warned decades back that unless you have an interest in the Mersey Tunnels in general, then stay away from a similar badge with green infilling, because that was issued to the Toll Takers not the Constables. That's a nice find from a specialist force.

See attached photo. The top circular patch is the first one which they apparently did not issue. It was widely disliked. The bottom left is the second one they used and the bottom right is the current one. I don't have any dates.

Do you know what time period the Tunnel Police introduced jumpers? That might give an approximate date for the first issue patch.

So the patches could have followed a few years later. As I recall it jumpers came out before the patches (at least in some forces)
