Help needed to ID photo
Hi there,
I have been sent a photo by my brother who is trying to identify various aspects of. Is anyone able to identify which Regiment the ladies belong to? I notice that whilst all of them have a stripe along the length of the epaulette a number of them have shoulder titles which I can't make out. I was thinking Nurses (QA's), or WAAC, VAD?? Secondly given the signaller in the centre of the picture wearing what looks like 1915-18 Overseas Service Chevrons (can't see if there is a darker 1914 one present) and only one soldier wearing a medal ribbon, is any one able to date this picture? I have noticed the long service chevron and wound stripe. Anything any one else can add would be much appreciated - is the chap with the receding hair line perhaps MGC? |

I would say QMAAC 1918.
Thats just an educated guess. regards

The girl seated at the front is holding a cap with an Army Service Corps cap badge on it, the cap presumably belonging to one of the men.

The lady back left also appears to be wearing the Women's Legion badge on her right breast,

I think the signaller does have a darker OS chevron below the other four. That would tally with the medal ribbon which appears to be for the 1914 Star. I think the man to the right of the girl holding the cap is ASC going by the shoulder titles.

Yes, she certainly is, so definitely QMAAC.

One of the men, is TF and wearing a wound stripe, and another has 3 overseas service stripes on his cuff. The latter indicates a 1918, and plus date, so along with being surrounded by women, no wonder the men look so smug...

Huge thanks for the responses received so far ... any thoughts on the seated (balding) soldier on the front row - the shoulder titles are awkward to decipher.

I think he is ASC and I think that it's probably his cap the girl is holding.
